Meet Your Expert Guide: Alejandro Luis Garrone
He holds a BSc in Geology from the National University of Córdoba, an MSc in Mining Geology from the Camborne School of Mines at the University of Exeter (UK), and a second MSc in Mine Planning from the National University of San Luis.
Garrone has held key technical and leadership roles at major mining operations including Pan American Silver, Yamana Gold, Barrick Gold, and Glencore. He has worked extensively in the Santa Cruz and San Juan provinces of Argentina, managing open pit and underground geological teams, conducting QA/QC procedures, and overseeing resource estimation for NI 43-101 reporting. He has also served as a consultant and advisor to international mining companies and software developers, including Allied Gold Corp and Rock Flow Dynamics.
He is a Chartered Professional Geologist (CP Geo-324306) with the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and an active member of the Geology Professional Board of Córdoba. In addition to his industry work, Garrone is an Assistant Professor of Mining Geology at the National University of Córdoba and has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on the geology of the Deseado Massif.
His background in both academic research and field-based mineral exploration offers a broad and informed perspective on the geological evolution of Argentina’s mineral-rich regions.
