We, as a family have traveled throughout the world starting in the 1980’s as individuals with Bill meeting his wife Maartje from the Netherlands at a youth hostel in Guangzhou, China. Both of us were on vacation for 4 weeks and we decided that it would be fun to enjoy each others company while traveling the countryside starting with a horseback riding tour in the small village of Songpan. Since starting a family with two sons and currently living near the Western end of the Columbia River gorge in Corbett Oregon, we have made yearly month long trips with our boys Kian and Boaz on trips throughout Central America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
During some of the international trips and throughout the Western contiguous states and Alaska, our family has made entire vacations out of understanding the geology of different areas as well as rockhounding as a hobby that took us to off the normal vacation routes.
Bill received his bachelor of science degree in Geological Engineering and worked within the mineral resources industry for 14 years throughout Alaska, Arizona and South America. Bill is now working with local regional experts in the geology field within Colombia, Chile and Argentina as well in the Western States of the USA.
We invite you to join us on one of our trips, in cooperation with local accredited University professors that live, work and understand the regional geology better than anyone. In some diverse locations, we will have local experts that understand the unique flora and fauna that call these places home and in most cases nowhere else in the world.
